We Make Stuff. And Give it Away. Sometimes to People We Don't Even Know...

Judith of UCSD Medical Center's
Volunteer Services with our Quilts
Quite a charitable year for the San Diego Modern Quilt Guild! We made Blocks for Boston, sent off a care package of quilts for Oklahoma tornado relief, and that still left us with a big pile of quilts to donate locally.

Remember our in-meeting Guild Challenge from June? The amazing finished quilt, and another one generously donated by Julie, along with two presentation pillowcases found their way to Bits & Pieces Quilt Shop in Poway, and into the hands of Sandra, the San Diego County QoV representative.

They'll add their presentation labels next to our labels, and find the quilts suitably valorous homes.

But that's just the beginning! As in previous years, our guild members donated several incubator-sized quits for the UCSD Medical Center's NICU, but this year we also made bed-sized quilts for the Oncology Department and lap quilts for the Senior Behavioral Department, 18 quilts in total!  (As you can see from the photo at the top of the post, they especially liked the Scrappy Trip Along quilt that was our 1Q guild charity project.)

18 (!) Quilts for the UCSD Medical Center

Keep up the good work, everyone! Don't let "not knowing who to give it to" stop you from starting that next project - our SDMQG charity committee can find a loving home for it one way or another.

  1. Great job! I spy one of mine in the UCSD pile - Deb D

  2. “Don't let "not knowing who to give it to" stop you from starting that next project…” – That’s right! Knowing that you’re giving away something for good intention should be enough. Cheers to the charitable hearts of everyone in this committee! I’m quite amazed at your devotion to give away stuff to those who are in need. ~Alison
